Full name of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. Born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu in the family with modest background. The family was facing financial crises and they inspired Dr. Kalam to educate, provided the importance of honesty and hard work. His father was the imam at local mosque and a boat owner, while his mother was a house maker. 

Over the time Kalam displayed the curiosity towards the books and study, he was interested in gadgets and doing experiments with so many things. His fascination with the space and flights ignited his dream to becoming a scientist.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's educational journey was marked by brilliance and determination. His dedication and hardwork earned him a scholarship to the Madras Institute of Technology, he earned a degree of Aeronautical Engineering. Career:

Early Career in DRDO and ISRO:

In 1958, After completing his education he joined DRDO(Defence Research and Development Organization) as a scientist. He played a crucial role in the development of India's indigenous missile program, he particularly involved in design and development of strategic Missiles.

In 1969, Dr. Kalam was transferred to ISRO(Indian Space Research Organization), where he was the Project director for India's first indigenous satellite launch vehicle (SLV-III). Under Kalam's leadership ISRO successfully launched first satellite 'Rohini' into the space, making a significant milestone in India's space exploration efforts.

Contribution to India's nuclear program:

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam plays crucial role in the India's nuclear program especially during during the Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. He was the Chief scientific advisor as well as secretary of DRDO and during this period he provided the crucial technical expertise and leadership, ensuring the success of mission.

Presidency and Public service:

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was elected as a 11th President of India in 2002. During his five years of presidency he distinguished himself as 'People's President' and he was known for his unwavering commitment, humility and accessibility to serving the nation.
